The Seal Called It Sun, Sea, and Seam. Form 14 Did Not.

Crown Leisure sealed the fare at 09:00. The Return Ward logged an open seam at 06:40.

The Crown Leisure Desk sealed the fare at 09:00. The note is one page. It calls the week sun, sea, and seam. At 06:40 the next morning the Return Ward opened Form 14 on that week. The form lists an open flank seam and a civic mend.

Nessa Barrow brought it. She is the petitioner. She bought the fare in Manehattan, at the Saltglass counter two streets off the harbor stair. The card is cream. Every line is the same size of type.

Day one is the shaping. Day two is the surf. Forty minutes sit between the seam inspection and the water. Citrus ices and a cider cup are printed above the swim. A dance is listed at dusk. In the corner where a mend chart carries a warning, the card prints a small sun.

"The sheet said the water was gentle," Barrow said. "The seam was not."

She stood at the ward counter in a travel cloak, the beach token still on the cord. Clover Margin was clerk on the early book. She took Form 14, read the hour back, and entered it in the left column. That column holds the returns the ward means to keep.

"Form 14 is the return," Margin said. "I do not grade the brochure."

The left column for the week holds forty-one lines. Eleven name a Saltglass fare. Four name the same work, a flank seam sold with the lodging and the boat. The card prices the work at 180 bits, all in. The four civic lines already run past that figure. Margin keeps the sum in the cost gutter, in the same hand she uses for the hour.

She turned the card over. The back is a map of the beach. The consent sits under the tide table in gray type and calls the shaping complete on the day of joy. The mender line is blank. The closer is named. On this card the closer is Sandy Seam.

Margin entered the license number and left the closer's name out of the book. The license comes from Brineglass, outside the mend compact. A compact shop can be called back to the chair. The evening boat brings the pony home. The fee stays on the far side of the water.

Holt Voss set the College advisory on the counter at 11:15. He is senior mender at the College of Menders. The advisory followed the seal and the form. It runs three pages and a cover. The footer states that he holds no crown seal. The text asks booking rooms to stop the combined fare. A shaping, then a swim. A sun lounge. A passage home before the seam is closed.

"A swim is not aftercare," Voss said. "The card lists one forty minutes after the inspection."

The College copy requires dry days, a named mender, and a second look inside the compact. The Saltglass card offers a sand chair and a boat at noon.

"They printed the order of the day as a pleasure," Voss said.

Undersecretary Cal Derrick answered for Crown Leisure at 13:05 from the seal office. A clerk carried the note to the ward and read it standing. The seal is gold. The text is forty-eight words. It calls a purchased brightness a private harmony. It says the desk encourages confident presentation.

"The seal regards the week as restorative leisure," the clerk read.

He left the page and took the stair. Margin still had Form 14 in her hoof. He was on the landing.

Barrow had filed a slip at 07:05, behind the form. The slip asks Crown Leisure to mark the fare as a mend, with a named chair and a price for the return. Under the desk rule, a harmony note stands until a higher seal amends it. The clerk brought the same page down. Its sealing hour is 09:00 on the day before the surf.

Voss stayed for the afternoon count. He added one line to the College copy. Saltglass bookings for the fare remain open through the next moon. The harbor stair confirmed that at 15:40 on the posted slate. The slate offers rest, water, and a neater flank.

Margin wrote the overnight hold at 16:10, in the right column. The seam is dressed. The dawn check is entered and waiting. The cider and the boat have no row. The harmony page remains one page in the Leisure file. Margin's last mark sets the next hour at dawn, and the line is still open.
