Qirath Will Defend the March It Spent Nine Seasons Invoicing

The compact promises forty reserve fliers. The third watch has six, and the signing cloud goes back at 15:00.

Qirath and Ashfen signed a mutual squall compact at the east wall at 11:40. Wind held at 18 knots out of the dune quarter. Tuesday's hail sat in the lane in two gray ridges. The compact posts 40 reserve fliers, a lightning allotment, and a joint patrol of the Reed Span. Qirath Cloudworks funds the first year. Ashfen's name goes on the rotation as shared command.

Steward Marek Venn has held the march for 14 months. The old citadel party left by the service door and took the storm logs with them. Venn signed page 1 and page 9. Page 9 sets the shield at 19 minutes of lightning per event. The east wall logged 214 strike-minutes across the last wet season.

The signing cloud was rented. It hung 60 feet over the wall, roped at four corners, beneath a banner reading FULL COVERAGE in letters a lane wide. The ticket on the near rope listed a 15:00 return and a late fee of 40 bits an hour. Director Pellam Voss of Qirath Cloudworks stood under it with the quill and kept his eyes on the page.

Crew Chief Nessa Holk had the third watch. The lane was still a work area. The formation flew the picture on the minute.

"They wanted the picture at 11:40," Holk said. "The hail cart was in the lane. I marked a 40-minute slip, and the desk told me the slip could ride in tomorrow's brief."

Gale Report had the wall marginal, pressure falling, visibility at 400 yards. Ashfen has posted that band for six seasons. The compact opens its fair-visibility clause at 2,000 yards. Holk's carbon came off the copy lamp with the threshold faint, and she penciled 2,000 into the margin from the Wonderbolt packet.

Press Clerk Banner Gale, for the Wonderbolt office, said the captains would speak to the historic character of the formation at a time of their choosing. Their names sat on the card in his left hoof. The reserve list stayed face down in the right.

"We are pleased with the cooperative average," Voss said. Nine seasons of Qirath invoices against this same sky he called "a prior scheduling difference." The seasons went unlisted. The shield, he said, had sat in the director's plan, waiting on a partner with a steady quill.

The partner on the 02:00 stood off the poster. Reserve Flier Odell Brant wears 19. The board by the rope showed 12 faces, all Qirath regulars, manes combed for dune light. Brant came up from the lower station at 11:55, after the quills were capped, and was pointed behind the banner, where the picture crops.

"I'm on the annex," Brant said. "The ready-room board carries a different twelve. I asked which list a storm is supposed to read. The clerk said the board updates on Mondays."

Thursday's board still carried the interior patrol from last week. Six fliers, all Ashfen, two of them on light duty. Brant's annex line puts him on the span as a Qirath reserve. The kit with his name has stayed on its hook at the lower station.

Canterlot Council stamped the foreign rotation at 13:10. The stamp sits in the margin of page 2, which names who may order a lightning release. The Council copy names the joint desk. The Cloudworks copy names the director on duty at Qirath. Holk's copy leaves that line blank, with "see purse" written under it in a small square hoof.

Windfall Margin entered the first-year allotment at 2.4 million bits, from Qirath into a new Ashfen sky account. The line for hail already in the lane is empty. The Council clerk read the sum into the record. Voss nodded at the figure. Banner Gale called it a restoration of the mean, caught a look from his deputy, and amended the phrase to a forward deployment.

Holk takes the first patrol at 02:00. Six bodies are on her board. The rented cloud is due at the dune yard before dark. The lightning chest came in with the seal whole. It holds 11 bolts. The annex describes 60, the remainder to follow on fair visibility.

Brant asked if 02:00 counted as Monday. Holk told him to bring the kit on the hook.

Across the nine seasons before Thursday's quill, Qirath's house ledger, kept in the drawer under the Windfall Margin book, paid 11.6 million bits against Ashfen's sky, 1.9 million of them in the season the old citadel still answered the horn.
